Donate-O-Meter

I'm looking for some kind of software/download that will let me display a place on my site to allow people to donate to a specific topic, allow everyone to see what is being donated and be simple to use and of course to implement?

I did find the wording 'Donate-O-Meter' but not sure how to get it and if it's any use to me - can someone help please?

I'd imagine somrthing spreadsheet based, with a chart on your webpage would do the trick. Not sure if you would be able to have real time updating from your chosen payment method / shopping cart though.

maybe you can reverse engineer from this site - they have something along those lines going on: http://www.smashmyipod.com/

Had a look at doing that last night. It seems that some clever peeps have written a PHP script that does the job, but there are a lot of bugs being reported. Had a look at the source code for a few sites with this feature, and it seems that they are all using a manual update method. Basically just add new figures yourself on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. None of them actually seemed to have cracked the real time updates.

The PHP behind the manual updates is very simple.. normally just a number taken from a flat file database and then converted into a percentage length using the GD library in PHP..
Real time updating.. i dont see the difference seeing as it will always simply be a number from a database.. its just how you update that number thats the issue.. a simple refresh of the page will show you the updated total (graph)... it all depends on which payment system you use, and have a function written to ammend your total in the database too.

Sorry, I didn't explain that very well. I meant exactly what you've explained. Just unsure how the updating from e.g. Paypal.
