Britain's social housing industry suggests £1bn spree on empty stock

Anyway, I saw this on my mobile phone ITV news yesterday. Some quango type was congratulating himself on being able to reach the government's affordable homes target sooner than expected. My OH has called the high rise flats the slums of the future ever since they popped up 8 years ago. I wouldn't be too happy if I had just spent mega bucks on one.

I heard that a lot of them don't meet the minimum specs laid down by Councils/HAs, so can't be bought for that.0

Does the government actually have any money left, seriously they cant really put up taxes much more, unemployment is rising so less tax & more benefits.
Then there is the argument of why the government should be allowed to buy at the top of a bubble distorting the market.0 -
Government has oodles of money epz. There's always a bit of gold bullion stashed somewhere. They want us to believe there's nothing in the kitty so we'll cut back and do what they want. It's all an elaborate game to them and us mere mortals pay the price.
Millions wasted waging war on innocents just to keep in with the yanks and --- don't get me started. It's Friday night and I'm out on the town. See you next week.0 -
Government has oodles of taxpayers' money - they chuck it around on things like reports that take months to prepare, paying off banks so that they can carry on with their scams and so that those 'running' them can get their bonuses, and the Olympics site (a shocking and needless waste of money).0
