Freeview box setup question

I've just bought a Freeview box and I need to set it up.
My system is simple enough; dvd recorder, freeview box and tv. But which lead goes where?!?!
I've got as far as tv aerial into "aerial in" on Freeview box but what next? The freeview box has an "aerial out" socket and two scart sockets marked "tv" and "vcr".
I've followed the setup instructions in the (pidgeon-English) manual and am able to watch the new channels but I don't seem able to get the dvd recorder into the loop........I have to turn the freeview box off before I can see any output from the dvd recorder which isn't much good if I need to record anything!
Anyone know which lead goes where?
TIA.

how many scart sockets does your TV have?
you could do aerial into freeview, aerial from freeview into TV (pretending your Freeview is a video recorder in pre scart days) and DVD recorder into the scart socket on the TV.0 -
Hi,
I've got mine set up this way...
Roof aeriel into freeview box, freeview to dvd recorder, dvd recorder to video, video to tv all with aerial loop throughs.
( if your freeview box doesnt support loop-through - then this wont work)
if it does then tune a channel on your dvd recorder to the freeview frequency, thus six channels 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 (being freeview)
I also scart from freeview to dvd recorder then dvd to TV.
i can either watch freeview by watching the dvd in monitor mode or use the other AV in.
You just have to check your manuals as to which scart does what on each product, some ore input only some are throughput and some are output.
a bit of suck it and see...
Hope this hasnt muddied the waters more than they were already.

I also have a question with regards to freeview, I do not have a poewerful enough tv ariel for my TV. At the moment all I can view is my DVD. If I install freeview without a pwerful ariel will it still work or do I need to buy another ariel.0
