Sold mobi, 0 feedback buyer, unconfirmed address!

Yep, it's another sell your mobi on Ebay saga...

Sold by BIN, Paypal payment received at once but-
  • Zero feedback buyer, registered in Feb 08, apparently not bid on anything else in last 30 days.
  • Unconfirmed UK shipping address, Google says it's the premises of a building trade company. (Buyer's UK home address is different)
  • Buyer is Polish judging by .pl e-mail address and their name.
It sort of looks legit, but what obviously I'd have no seller protection.

What's my best option...I do have a Polish speaker in my office who could ring them!

Tell him you will only ship to a confirmed address, else if all goes wrong you would not be covered by Paypal and you would lose any claim. Delivering to a works premises does not guarantee he would receive it.

True enough, I've known plenty of storemen who send away any goods they can't match to company Purchase Order.

Alas there are also those who would deny ever receiving the item just because they did not sign for it. A freebee phone for a little hassle.

An unconfirmed address means you are not covered anyway. Personally I would risk a neg on this one by refunding the payment and asking the buyer to get his address confirmed. I must warn you though that by following my advice you may be subject to a non performing seller complaint.

Personally I would rather risk a complaint and a neg than risk losing money on a high end item.

Do you want to sell the phone for the highest possible price?

Does the delivery address include a company name?

    Is the company solvent?

If the answer to all these questions is yes, I would send the phone.

You have a buyer, their probable home address and details of where they probably work. It doesn't sound like the buyer is going to disappear overnight.

Even in the unlikely event that all the above is not true, you probably have the best protection by having a company name. Once the item is signed for by an employee of the company the company accepts responsibilty for it. In the event the phone then goes missing, you can sue the company as they acknowledged receipt of the item.

In the unlikely event the company refuses to accept a postal delivery, then the post office will return the item to the sender if a return address is available.

Ensure the item is sent using recorded delivery (or SD with appropriate insurance if valued over £36).
