Cheap couriers and haulage etc - shiply.com

I don't normally start new threads about random companies but feel that this one might actually be useful to pretty much everyone so I want to share the wealth!
It's http://www.shiply.com, when you need something moved (they say anything from boxes to cars, boats or house removals) you list the goods on their site and then loads of couriers and transport companies bid for your job. I think I read somewhere that you can put ebay items on it as well if you like.
As I understand it the way it works is that Shiply has loads of companies (courier companies, one man and his van etc) who are always looking for additional work particularly if their vehicles are returning empty after a delivery. Because of this, the bids that you get are super cheap.
I used it and saved at least £50 moving a pool table and it was pretty easy to use...:j Anyway, I hope this helps someone...

I think i've mentioned before that i have used shiply. You can definetly use it for ebay items, as I put a TV from ebay on it, and had about 15 bids, giving me a very low price to move it from Bath up to Manchester.
It was really clever how it recognised the TV just from entering the ebay number.
If I need to move anything again I think I will definetly use it again.0 -
You gotta be realistic with your expectations though, there was someone on there wanting a house removal for £50 :eek:0

Haha thats just funny! Unless it was a dolls house???
To be honest I didnt really have a clue about what to expect so just left it to run for a while and the prices got lower. I had phoned a couple of the larger courier companies and it was considerably lower than their quotes, so that was all good by me. :j0
