Does This Sound Dodgy?

I was watching a brand new LCD TV recently (a few weeks ago) and the auction finished with the wording " The seller has ended the auction due to an error in the listing". I was searching through today and the same TV and seller is shown again as relisted. In the description it states "relisting due to non payer". I sent the following message: "In your original listing it states withdrawn due to listing error but under this auction it states relisted due to non payer please confirm which it is"

The whole thing seems a bit dubious. Reason given for sale is purchased as a moving in present but parents also bought him a TV.
"
Any views??

I have just had his replly and im even more confused????????????:

"hi there the non paying bidder is true.then i did relist it with a buy it now price on but someone bidded so the buy it now price was removed.then i put at the bottom open to offers whice was stupid because that is why it was removed e.g the error.byt if you did want then you are welcome to offer me a price and could have it asap.thanks alot"

You chose the reason why you end the auction from a list on eBay when you end an auction early.

.........it's such a rambling answer I'd be inclined to think it's quite genuine. If he was up to something I'd expect him to have a much neater story than that. Is his feedback record good? My gut reaction here would be it's OK.

I would do but have just made him an offer. Hes saying the RRP is £800 but ive found them on many sites at £400. My offer is obviously considerably lower than that so expecting a big fat NO. Although boxed I suppose it is still officially second hand.
