It may help you to feel more confident about feeding in public if you practise your feeding position at home first i.e. without pillows, and in different chairs
A scarf, pashmina, shawl or muslin square can be a handy cover up to use while baby is feeding. There are some great tops available which make it easier to breastfeed without having to strip off
Always try to sit down to feed and if possible in a comfortable chair, where your back will be more supported
Look for somewhere to sit where you know you'll be happy to feed your baby if you want to. If you know you'll feel self-conscious, sit with your back to the majority of people in a restaurant or caf!
Have a drink of water to hand, as it's thirsty work, and don't sit too near a heat source as breastfeeding increases your body temperature
- Be proud of what a fantastic job you're doing breastfeeding your baby. Be part of the growing groups of mums who are really starting to make breastfeeding more visible, acceptable, and an essential part of baby's day!
