Vodafone - cancelling contract

Simple question - I have been a Vodafone pay monthly customer for approx 3 years (I am not sure what the original length of the contract was, suspect 12 months).

If I cancel, should I expect to be able to keep the phone? (a Nokia 7650, which is unlocked).

Thanks in advance,
William

  • Without any doubt.

You have already given them enough money to burn a wet dog.
  • Yes you can keep the phone and if you want to take your number to another network ask for a PAC code which lets you do it. You do not have to give notice to cancel as you are out of contract, especially if you use a PAC code which cancels you automatically.
  • Thanks for the advice - and its all done!

Although there are plenty of reasons why I am leaving Vodafone, credit to them at least for having a "if you are thinking of leaving Vodafone" option in their customer service menu, and for being polite and helpfully answering my questions about PAC (if anything, they were actually rather unpersistent in trying to persuade me to stay).

I am myself a Vodfonic, but I called them up to cancel my contract and they said they need 1 month's notice even after my contract finishes. Are they talking rubbish?

My contract finishes in 2 weeks.

You do need to give 30 days notice even after the 12 months, as the contract is still in place, the contract doesn't end after 12 months, it is on going until you finish it

It is always 30 days notice to cancel with Vodafone.

Usually people do it in month 11 so the contract does finish after the signed 12 months.
