Dress marked in transit!

Hi everyone.

I recently bought a dress on ebay, it was only 99p and the p&p was £2.50. I received it today, it came in a black bin liner with the equivilant of a first class stamp on.

I wouldn't usually have been bothered but it had 2 marks on it what seemed to be black ink, so I checked the auction to make sure I didnt miss anything and to check the photo, after I saw that it didnt have any mention of marks and the photo didnt seem to show any marks either I decided to contact the seller.

I received this reply
"hi im sorry to hear that but i wouldnt of sold a dress with marks on it or i would of stated that it did, there are no marks on the photo in the listing either the only thing i can think is its happened after i posted it sorry once again"

Now im just wondering what everyone thinks to this, I know the dress only cost 99p but £2.50 for p&p should have covered postage and some decent packaging which in turn wouldn't have caused any marks during transit, should I just give it a rest and deal with it, leave a negative or fight for some sort of compensation for poor packaging.

I would appreciatate any comments.

Thanks

for what it would cost to send back by recorded delivery i would probably just keep the dress, try to remove the marks and neg the seller for their poor packaging and poor response.

It depends how far you want to push matters.

If you paid by paypal, you could get back your 99p plus £2.50 postage, but you will have to fund the return of the item yourself using recorded delivery

At least that way you know the seller hasn't got any money from you and will be suffering the expense of the initial postage cost and the ebay FVFs too!

If the seller is not forthcoming with a mutually acceptable resolution, I'd be sorely tempted for the cost of a second class stamp plus 72p recorded service...

  • Have you asked her for a refund? Try asking for refund first, she may just refund you and tell you to keep the dress. or she may not and then its up to you.

You could open a snad disupte and see where it goes from there but remember to send anything back recorded!
