possible ebay problem

ok, so ive been an avid user of ebay for years, buy all kinds of stuff on there, i bought an outfit for my daughter from there quite recently.
So the other day i put this outfit on her and it had a button missing, im quite disappointed. so i send her a message telling her this and asking for a refund (or something), not sure what i was expecting there heh.
she has send me a message saying she doesnt usually give refunds but will on this occasion, but only for the actual price of the item, so it cost 8 quid plus 2 postage and shes only refunding me the 8 quid (i have to pay return postage too).
So im just feeling a bit bad at the minute as i sell on ebay occasionally too, and dont want to be mean. ive replied saying i want a refund including original postage.
is it the norm to just get the item price back or not? its only 8 quid, if she refuses to give me original postage back should i open a snad dispute or just leave it?
thanks in advance x

don't meant to sound rude, but can't you just sew another button on it (or a move a button up/down etc)?
I know it's not answering your question, but maybe it's better than losing on on money?
The seller doesn't have to refund all costs, just a good seller wouldTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
its ok, its not rude, i cant sew lol otherwise i would! i mean i wouldnt have even bid on it at all if it mentioned buttons missing and that. It just ive been caught out a few times before with ppl sending absolute rubbish to me in the most and ive just left it.
yes useless i know. ill probably leave this one too. i dont like upsetting ppl either. i would refund all postage if it was me. but i know not all ppl are daft like me lol0 -

i would allways refund in full ,postage included - what i ussually do is relist it stating that a button is missing and if/ when someone buys it ,get the first buyer to send it to the second buyer - refunding 2 lots of postage o the first buyer0

Surely you have a friend or relation who can put a button on for you, how old's your daughter she might be able to do it for you:D0

lol, thanks all, but i why should i sew a button on something that was described as perfect condition. I can do everything else, like have a full time job, look after my two children including my disabled son and husband. I have no time to sit back and sew a buttons on things ive just bought. So thanks for the reality check Hintza.
My MIL can sew but if i went to her she would probably take me shopping to get my daughter new clothes.
The point is, i bought something which is not as described, ive actually already decided to not bother doing anything about it.
note to self: GET REAL0 -
Haven't noticed it so much these days but I remember when I was young that loose thread on your new shirt that you pulled and the button fell off...used to be a nightmare. :rotfl:0
