seller returned but no receipt

Seller complained his goods were not as described, i said to him to return for a replacement however i have no goods, he says he sent and provided a ref for a tracking delivery. However when ringing royal mail nothing is showing up on their system. Please can someone advise where this leaves me, whether it leaves me liable or not? thanks

Hi, firstly, do you mean Buyer complained goods were not as described? What sort of delivery was it i.e. recorded or special delivery?

Ask him to email a copy of his proof of posting. If he can't do that then he hasn't a leg to stand on. Paypal won't pay him without a valid tracking number and they will ask him to fax a copy to them.

I've just returned an item and before I can get my refund, paypal asked for a copy faxing over.

If returned by Royal Mail, you can put the tracking code on the website. (saves the cost of a phone call)

    http://track.royalmail.com/portal/rm/track?catId=22700601&gear=authentication

Don't refund or replace until you have the original item back (and checked it).

If buyer is not happy, he can raise a claim with paypal who should tell him the same - without online proof of delivery, there will be no refund.

If item does not get delivered, sender should make their own claim with RM for any loss.

Yes buyer complained goods were not as described. he sent it by recorded delivery(not special) and provided a tracking number he said he sent it 27th may, however i rang up royal mail today who said they had no info and i havent got it back yet.

If he emails the proof of postage, where does that leave me then?
