Sellers

I have had an item go missing in the post on its way to me.

This is the first item to go missing to me in over 800 transactions.

The Seller is emailing saying that it is very strange that it is her first parcel to go missing and that I have obviously received it and am after a refund

The value is under £8 anyway, so am hardly likely to try to fiddle a Seller over that small amount of money.

We can see from threads on here that very often the moment something goes missing en route some sellers jump up and down and claim to be 'scammed' by their buyers. It has always irritated me.

Anyhow, to the point in question. Now that the seller has shown themselves to be of that ilk I would have no hesitation in slamming in a full paypal chargeback and leaving it in until either item arrives or they refund.

I'm with Soolin on this one. Go straight for the chargeback assuming you paid by Paypal. Sellers with the attitude that they are not responsible the minute the item leaves their hands drive me up the wall!!!!

I get that your angry you never received it. But the seller is probably angry that they have to pay a refund when they have no item. Think of it from both sides.
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.

I don't agree. The seller can protect their losses simply by obtaining a certificat eof posting which covers up to £36 of loss. A buyer is entirely dependent on the seller. There is no comparison at all.

I would also be extremely annoyed by any seller suggesting that due to Royal mail inefficiencies I was somehow 'scamming'. That alone would be enough to make me add a neg to her account once I had my refund.

Like Soolin says, the seller can claim from Royal Mail. At the end of the day, the seller is providing the service. They may be annoyed at having to refund but unfortunately thats the way it works. Cute and Quirky could have said that she did not believe the seller had sent it if she wanted to be awkward.

ways and means of going about things and thats just not the way to go about things.

as seller you should be polite and understanding, explain when it was sent and that is is likely to turn up in the next few days blah blah, but if it doesn't one will send a full refund or a replacement.
