First Direct mortgages £100 incentive to encourage you to be paid into their account

I applied for a First Direct mortgage in April and am still waiting for it to be completely finalised. I didn't want to swap all of my other accounts over to the offset part until I had a definite offer and so never arranged for our wages to be paid into my firstdirect account.

I received a letter this morning offering me £100 as an incentive to arrange for my wage to be paid into FD account, which I was going to do anyway as soon as mortgage offer was official. Might be worth waiting for any of you who are applying for a mortgage currently.

I notice in first direct's website that they are offering everyone that changes to thier 1st account will get £100 when they credit thier account with a certain amount over 3 months (can't remember figure!) and another £100 if you don't like the account and change to another!

On a nother note - I have been looking at thier mortgages and am thinking on applying- how have you found them to deal with?

Thier 'amount you can borrow' calculator is strange! I put my earning in and it came up with a figure well below what I need and can afford. I phoned them to see if any other income (child maintenance) could be included and they told me no - but they would lend 4.5 times my earned income! this is a totally different figure than thier calculator! I don't understand!!

    Hi,

So far no probs - not the speediest mortgage application but it's on its way to completion now. They did put the wrong valuation fee down twice but I suppose as with all legal docs you would check it in detail anyway and they rectified it. Can't say I've had any trouble contacting them and they ring back when they say they will.

Can't comment on ltv and multiples of income as it was a remortgage and our ltv is quite high and our incomes cover it.

But so far no probs - they also sent our p60s and payslips back by registered post whichw as good.
