Faulty Skirt - Advice Please

I bought a skirt last week on ebay. The skirt has arrived & is lovely but the stitches that hold the zipper in place have come out meaning the bottom of the zip sticks outside the skirt like a little tail if that makes sense?
I don't want to return the item & get a refund as I do like the skirt - but it will cost me money to get it fixed. What do I say in my message to the seller?
Thanks

Wouldn't a couple of stitches do the trick? I realise you've got faulty goods but I don't think I'd trouble a professional to fix it... and if you were my buyer I'd be a bit dubious about just how much money it would cost to fix.
Just an observation, don't mean to be horrible! My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Was it a new skirt or used? Do you know anyone who can sew and would be prepared to mend it for you if you dont feel up to doing it yourself? If the skirt was a bargain or used I wouldn't bother contacting the seller and would just sort it myself.0

I don't sew, every time that I have tried to fix something it's come out worse!! I have an ever growing pile of stuff that needs to be fixed that I never have time nor inclination to do. Anyway, the seller should check before sending out, surely? It's not a tiny little fault but something quite obvious! Wouldn't you? I don't see how you would be dubious when these things cost a fixed price from dry-cleaning shops anyway!nothing to see here, move along...0

It was used but they said in excellent condition & only worn once or twice! Anyway, I don't expect to have to repair things that I have just bought. Whenever I've sold things, I've checked them myself & would never send out anything that had an obvious fault!nothing to see here, move along...0

I'd be dubious that you were intending to pay good money on a repair which sounds really simple to do at home, and trust me, my tailoring skills extend to sewing on buttons, badly!
I might ask for a small partial refund to reflect the impaired condition of the item, but not the charge for a professional to fix it.My TV is broken!

did you notice this before or after you tried it on? how much did you pay for the skirt ?Work to live= not live to work0

I think that says more about you than me though. I would never lie to a seller & I WOULD pay a professional to do it when I don't have time nor inclination to do it. Anyway should have known better than to ask here for advice on what to put in my message when I'm just being judged & told that I wouldn't be believed when that is exactly what I would do!nothing to see here, move along...0

I guess smileys don't cut it anymore, I'm going to have to go and get a fluffy bunny avatar so people stop getting upset when I give opinions. My TV is broken!

You're implying that I would be lying and that I would basically be trying to defraud the seller because I actually use a professional to fix clothes that need fixing. No smiley or avatar would make a difference when the implication is that I'm a liar and a fraudster and not to be trusted!
Is there anyone here that can just answer the questions that I have asked, please?nothing to see here, move along...0 -
I suppose it depends on what you paid for it. If I was the seller and you had only paid a couple of quid I would probably refund the whole lot and let you keep the skirt just so you were a happy buyer. If you had paid more than that I would probably offer to refund some towards the cost.
What would you like the seller to offer you?
