Spoke to someone today who has this new SE phone. He said it was the best phone he had ever had! I love the look of it but it's on a £30+ tariff :(.

The phone can be optained for free on some new contracts.

    Basically the W800i is a K750i with a good music add-on.

So if you are not fussed about using it to store and play music, go for a K750i.

But like i say, there are free deals out there for new connections.
  • I would def reccommend it, i had it for around 10 days now and can safely say its the best phone i`ve ever had. True walkman sound quality.

as jf2404 says the W800i is the same phone inside as the K750i but with a different cover and firmware
you can reflash the k750i firmware to make it the same as W800i and you can get the k750i for much less

i opted for the w800i over the k750i.

    1. i could get either of them free and wanted to get my moneys worth
    2. i have fingers that must resemble sausages compared to the rest of the nation - the design of the k750i in the '2 / abc' button area meant it was fiddly to use at best
    3. it comes with a bigger memory card, better headphones and an adaptor to allow you to use any 3.5mm jack with the phone - so any headphones you like.

yes you could possibly buy all these things with the difference in cost between the handsets and flash the k750i to w800i firmware - you could even change the casing but it's all additional hassle.

the w800i is an excellent phone (deeply shocked to have that opinion after the hate hate relationship i had with a T610 but there you go) and as such i'm sure the k750i is too. now if they'd only made the w800i in black...

obviously if you can get either free then the w800i is the one to go for : )
my comments about upgrading from k750i to w800i were aimed at the payg buyers
  • Hi,

your information all looks very good but can you please direct me to what 'good' deals you have found on these phones, either the K750 or the better W800.

currently i'm a low user on a pay as you go tesco sim.

the advantage of having a reasonable camera in my pocket is proving to be the winner in this case, the connectivity next and then the music.

It does seem to be out of stock in quite a few places. The best I have seen is direct from Orange.

6 months half price line rental of £12.50/month (120 xnet mins), then after that you can change to any tarriff that suits you. With this contract the handset is only £29.99. So you could pay less than £200 for the phone over a year.

Also I think if you buy from the Orange shop you can get £50 for an old handset, as well as £50 if you find someone who refferred you to the Orange network (which I don't mind doing! ;))!

    I do highly recommend W800i.

Best phone *I* ever had (I've never used anything other than Sony / SE).

I have Ipod mini and shuffle along with good quality in-ear phones (Shure E2C), still i love low bass on W800i walkman. Interestingly this have 5 band manual equaliser too.

Though not matching with sony 2M digicam PQ, still very high quality picture on W800i digicam

I've got W800i from e2save, which appears to me an excellent deal (see thread below). After cheque back, my line rental will be £21 for the contract period of 12 months.

  • HI,

can you explain more about the orange offer, is it in shop only or internet?

i can't seem to get the deal anywhere like that or get a trade in via the site.

    thanks.
