Hi thanks for those 02 ideas,
do you know if you can sign up to them just for a month or is it only for people on contract?
Er, yep - they are on a cruise ship for two weeks whilst im stuck at home
so do you think those ideas would only work when they are on land?
thanks again0 -
Those are both available on Pay&Go, and can be for only a month.

If the ship is in sight of the shore, it should be possible to get a signal from there, maybe from on deck if it's a few miles. I've stood on the top of the ferry at Calais and been on a UK network.
Not all cruise ships have their own GSM cell onboard, but it is getting fairly common; you might find info on their website or ask onboard (and ask what network is shown). But watch out for high charges, and I'd suggest disabling voicemail on that phone. You might arrange that you only call after getting a missed call when they are in ordinary coverage.0 -
I don't understand why people feel the need to constantly use the phone, why not just wait til you get home or text hotel/ local phonebox numbers back to the UK and use the international callchecker to call them back.
I think people have got far too used to always having a phone to hand, no wonder the mobile networks are raking it in!0 -
You could use Rebtel... involves you assigning a local number for her mobile number, you dial the local number (chargeable to your network or from your free minutes) and Rebtel connects the call using the internet, you will have to pay Rebtel seperately at a cost of 9p a min but this is obviously considerably cheaper than what your paying now. Plus the cost of her receiving the call tooSLC: £13000+
Quidco: £131.24 (paid) + £0 (validated) = £131.24
Valued Opinions: £75 (paid) + £52.30 (received) + £4.50 (pending) = £131.80
StudentPanel: £250
