Warning If You Increase Your Bid On An Item

Forgive me if this is in the wrong place but I really thought you should be aware of what has just happened to me
I placed a bid early and became the highest bidder, then decided that I wanted to increase it again - so I did - I was still the highest bidder so the bidded price should not have increased. It did from £40 to £50.
I have been onto live support to report this and this have accepted that it is a technical problem.
Note that ebay will be getting the increased fees as well from the sellers for this glitch.
I urge anyone who has increased a bid to go back and check to see if the bidding process has "bid against themselves".
Hope this makes sense

Yep, Ive done this once. Put in a bid which was not my maximum and then decided that I would put in my maximum bid as I won't be around for the auction end.
And my new bid beat my own old bid. Couldn't believe it, still lost the auction though.0 -
its not right is it though and is totally unfair .... am fighting - will keep you posted0

I'd be interested to know if others have had this problem or whether it is an isolated one as I have two items both of which have two bids from the same user but the current bid price is still the opening bid and has not jumped at all.
Bids should only jump on a Dutch auction or one where there is a reserve and reserve is met by the second bid which could be the case in the OP as £40 would not be a winning bid but £50 on a reserve auction with the minimum £50 reserve could be a winning bid. So OP, was there a reserve showing before you bid?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. - there was no reserve
and
- I was the only bidder anyway!
I don't do it anymore.0 -
