Closing / cancelling Cards

I have some cards that I have used for offers etc e.g.

Sonycard for points
AMEX for interest free period
and a couple of others

I would like to know if there's any benefit to keeping them - to possibly use the credit limit on them sometime?
OR is it best to cancel them and "release" the credit amount against my name?

What would be the effect of this on the so called Credit rating?

    Hey there.

There's been loads of chat about this. Basically, it depends on your circumstances, but have a read through this guide, there's a section on settling accounts.
