What happens to all the new build flats that were built as second/holiday homes that have not sold?

This is in one of the best locations on the south coast:

Good idea as Newhaven (above) must be the chav capital of the south.
  • We've started to notice this in the holiday home hotspots near us. Sort of inevitable really once finances get stretched and the second home suddenly isn't that retirement nest egg you thought it was going to be.

I was mystified by that...Newhaven is pretty grotty...are they the flats that blocked the views of the old house on the old harbour?

Could do with less 2nd homes on the coast as it reduces the ammount of local population who keep the local economy going.

My oldest friend has a lifestyle store in Dorset......deserted all winter and non term -time. Relies on the second-homers with their pseudo country lifestyle playing at country, village living for 2 or 3 months of the year.
They moan when a cutesy shop they like closes down as the poor owner didn't have enough customers from Sept to May.

Good good.....In 5 years time 'I would very much like, please' this type of thing BUT in Dorset.

    I love the stream.

I think it would be treble the price in Dorset?

    what's a lifestyle store?
It doesn't specialise in any one type of product (eg; kithenware, ladies clothing) but all sorts of different stuff specifically targeted at a niche customer. It then sells as many products as possible to appeal to the chosen lifestyle.
She knits, spins and creates, true shabby chic plus buys in all sorts of compatable shabby product (even fake rusty buckets...the 2nd homers don't use their tin pails enough to rust them quick enough)...she provides instant worn-out country style :D
One could say Selfridges is a lifestyle store for a reasonably, affluent Londoner, Primark (as it expands it's ranges) is developing into a lifestyle concept....but I can't write out which one as I don't want to offend (being a moneysaving site and all).

and my own store is to expand into lifestyle too ;)

Its a few miles from Aberystwyth (I was born there) and on the map, as the crow flies, seems a few miles from town BUT with country lanes, the commute could take an hour?
Aberystwyth has a university, big hospital and is gorgeous.

I am in love with it but it's in the wrong place for now....wonder what offer they would take?
