I have a samsung E720 on an o2 line advance contract. I want to use a pay as you go sim card in the phone to send media messages and it won't let me. I have been told to take it to an o2 shop to unlock it.
Is there a code I can use myself?
Ditto question with an ericsson W8001.

o2 shop wont unlock your phone
is it locked or does it just not send messages?
what is the error message?
often o2 dont lock the phones0 -
Line advance on o2 doesn't allow mms. The phone will allow a payg sim card to send text messages but not mms. There is no logical reason why on the payg sim mms cannot be sent.
o2 said take it to an o2 shop.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

Its an old style o2 contract.you pay 12 months in advance, not as many perks as the new contracts but it cheap. I don't get mms with the contract but the phones are capable of mms, o2 says the phone has not been stopped from doing mmms, but I can't get it to work with an o2 payg sim card and there is no reason why it shouldn't (its one of the free sims I'm using)£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

it doesnt need unlocking then, sounds like it just needs the settings sending to the phone - i think the payg ones are different to the others
have you tried here:

my brother in law is on a 02 contract has been for a few years and its one of those ones where you pay in advance for the year and he has never been able to receive or send mms i changed the settings for him but still wont work, his infrared wont even work can 02 block infrared or do you think its a fault on the phone he has a samsung e8000

o2 told me they cannot block anything on the phone. The block is on the line connection.
They switch off the services they will not allow you to have.
If the payg sim card works differently I will try drahcir's suggestion.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

Ok get the settings sent to your phone for the O2 PAYG sim by using this:
http://uk.samsungmobile.com/sg/OTAConf_MMS.jsp
If it still doesnt work, email O2 using the contact us option on the website and ask them to enable MMS on the PAYG sim.0
