PayPal MasterCard / eBay Cashback - Any experience?

Just wondering if anyone has had a PayPal MasterCard from GE Money and what their overall opinion was of the card / deal / the service etc? Any positive or negative feedback?

It seems a pretty competitive package of benefits and I'm particularly interested in the 3.6% cashback on eBay buys (and the £30 ebay voucher is as good an incentive as any)

Using the card gives 20% more cashback than all deals listed on PayPal offers website, i.e. 4.8% JD Sports, 2.4% Dabs, 7.2% BHS etc, but its the eBay one which I really like.

Any experiences? Thank you in advance

I'm not sure how well it compares with other cashback sites, e.g. quidco will give 40% of ebay's commission + better rates at other retailers, without tieing you into PayPal

I have their card. They were very generous to me credit limit wise and online facilities are just what is needed unlike that utter shambles known as Abbey credit card!!!

JTWN - thanks for the positive experience, interestingly I'm moving from an unused MBNA Abbey which was a nightmare, has a balance of zero and seems impossible to cancel despite repeated requests (and also from Egg, just because they suck).

Simon - that's an interesting point on the cashback from QuidCo but they give 35% of eBay's commission which on average I imagine is about 35% of 2 or 3% which is at most 1%? The PayPal card used via PayPal Offers claims to give 20% increase on 3% cashback, which becomes 3.6% which is much better. I assume you can't use both (and approach 5% eBay cashback) as I figure PayPal offers also requires redirect from their site, but a 3.6% rebate on eBay spending still seems pretty good.

I have had my PayPal card for about 6 months now and they have been no hassle at all. Transferred three small balances completely painlessly and now use as my only credit card. The statements are nice and clear compared to some, and the online account manager is perfectly adequate and the online payment system is particularly useful (as it actually works...).

I got a very good limit from them and the APR even after the introductory offers is lower than most platinum cards!

Do you have a link to the eBay offer as I do not currently get this and want to see if I can as an existing customer as I always use this card when buying on eBay.

Well, on the PayPal Credit Card site it says:

Get cashback to your PayPal account with your PayPal Credit Card!


With PayPal Offers and your PayPal Credit Card, you can now earn cash when you shop online on selected sites.

And then on the PayPal Offers site at this link https://www.paypal-offers.co.uk/page.do?page=qa it says:

Earning extra cash rewards with the PayPal Credit Card Q: How can I earn extra rewards with the PayPal Credit Card?
A: Simply by entering your card number when registering with PayPal Offers. Whenever you log in, PayPal Offers recognises that you entered your PayPal Credit Card number and will track your transactions accordingly and award a 20% higher cashback reward than the standard PayPal Offers rate to your PayPal account.
Fore example, if a merchant offers 10% cashback, you will earn 12% with your PayPal Credit card – it’s that easy!

It's also mentioned here: http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/200709241525262.html although the APR and links on that story are to a previous offer. And I'm certain in general that PayPal offers pays 3% cashback on eBay transactions, which becomes 3.6% with the card itself.

Yes, with the quidco commission it depends on how much the person has spent on the listing, so listing fee + gallery + featured + high start price + buy it now would get more commision. So there isn't much way of knowing what you will get until you buy an item.

However, you don't have to pay via paypal and you don't need a new credit card account. You could combine with another cashback card to increase the cashback amount.

I was just checking the paypal offers site, and they do not mention how much cashback you get from ebay, also I notice that ebay have disappeared from quidco. Anyone know if there is a problem with cashback and ebay?
