Is anyone else annoyed with sellers using reserves

Hi,
Is it me or does anyone else find reserves so annoying.
There's a seller whos trying to flog a number of designer glasses with a 99p start and a reserve:mad:
Needless to say none have reached their reserve price especially when a well-known discount store is selling them for £25 a pair!
My rant is why don't sellers start at the price they want instead of using a reserve.
It must be costing a fortune in Ebay fees and so far she has listed seven and re-listed three - all with reserves!
Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

I have no idea, as the 2% reserve fee is chargeable whether the item sells or not, so on a high value item, this can be a fair old wedge if the item does not sell.

I'll be honest though - if I see a listing with a reserve, I'll simply pass it by.

    Same here

although i am watching something at present with a start bid of £50 and a BIN of £150 and its only got 2 hours left no bids, i would have paid £150 an all:D

I got quite excited when I stumbled across the listing cos I thought I could bag myself a bargain then i noted the reserve.
Like you said it just puts people off and lines Ebay's pockets.
I did hear Ebay quitely stopped refunding reserve fees if the item sold.

Correct - so minimum reserve level is £50, which equates to another £1 in the eBay "shareholder bubbly" fund.

Yup reserves are pointless. I tend to avoid items with them but sometimes I'll email asking what the reserve is, and you sometimes get stroppy replies like "I'm not telling you bid and find out"

    Timewasters, usually n00bs aswell
