If in the UK Royal Mail special delivery is hard to beat at £8.25 including £500 compo and full tracking.

standard parcels is £4.20 and you can pay a few pounds extra for more than £36 compensation. no tracking though

i need some form of online tracking .... its for an item paid for via paypal

you need special delivery then and yes you can do it in the post office

Yes just be careful the weight is 2kG and not over as the next price break is a whopping £20!
