UkParents website shut down

My favourite baby website, https://www.ukparents.co.uk has mysteriously shut down and there is just a strange letter directing you to another website which looks rubbish. Does anyone know what this is all about??

Also does anyone know an alternative website for buying/selling baby stuff??

  • I love that site too. See they have posted 'letter' with an alternative website (I have looked at it as you say waste of space) but implies ukparents is a gonner for some reason!? :'(
Will let you know if I find another decent parents site

This is the email i got in my inbox this morning.

    Dear UKp Members

Firstly, may I apologise for the chaos over the last twenty four hours. I must take full responsibility and feel I at least owe you an explanation.

I made a decision some months ago to try and improve the functionality of the site and bring to you a suite of new products. I put my trust in a software house to deliver an improved site which was launched earlier this month. Unfortunately my trust was misplaced. The finished article was not as requested and failed to deliver something we could work with. After three months work on both sides the gulf between us was too wide and as a result the two companies have gone their separate ways.

Part of the technical solution was that they were in control of the hosting and overall administration of the site. So it was their decision to "pull the plug".

We are now back in control and hosted elsewhere and can assure you of our continued commitment. The message you have read on the site was an attempt to attract the community away to something they have been creating behind the scenes. I am very surprised that a company who has other communities would act in this manner however that’s life!

For the avoidance of doubt I can confirm for those of you who have had interaction with staff members the following.

Susan , Steve, Tracy and Carolyn are the team. Simon, Philip, Nabil, Omar, Jim and any staff of a company called Bibliotech have no connection with ukp .

I am e mailing all members to explain the situation but would ask you to rally round and help re-establish the community the best you can .

I know we can do it.

So it seems the site was hijacked for ulterior motives. :o

However most of the members have defected over here

    hope that helps
