It pays to read Paypal's ads

So far I haven't received any discount codes from ebay/paypal by email or snailmail.
Last night I went to pay for something by paypal and there was a little boxed ad among all the rest saying that I could claim a discount using this personal code and that it would expire today.
How long it's been there I don't know as I rarely read their ads.

Next to it was a link to check what codes (if any) could be applied to my account. I clicked it and it said that there wasn't any.
I tried the code from the ad anyway and it worked.
I haven't posted it cos it hasn't worked for anyone else, apparently it just comes up with a 'this code cannot be used on this account' message.

It could be worth checking the paypal ads next time you go to pay.

    Oops forgot to say -
If you see the ad, make a note of the number.
When I saw it, the bill I was paying was a few pence less than the code was worth.
I actually used it on a different order, but I've only seen the ad once.
I've paid for 4 things since seeing it and the ad hasn't shown up again, including on the payment I actually used it for.
