This morning neighbour came to complain about leakage coming from my bathroom cousin damage to the their walls in the kitchen and 1more room.
.
Unfortunetly she might be right -that there is problem with my bath since it is impossible to see any pipes and check it myself.
In any case -she is going to call council tom to see what is going on..i am just worried if it is coming from my bathroom ..is there going to be some big charges and would be cheaper if i call some local plumbers ..or maybe council take care of all this?
I mean..i read somewhere that some people had even to take whole bath off and installing completly new one.-what scares me a lot

Flat i bought 5 years ago is ex council-but people downstairs are not private.
any advice would be welcome

Hi all,
The first question that I would ask myself is 'am I insured?'
Well, are you? Do you have any house contents insurance? If you do, check through the policy.
If you have no insurance at all then.........maybe someone else on here will be able to help you on that one.

If it's a leak from the plumbing wouldn't it be building insurance you'd need?0

hi
thanks for answers
well i do have buliding insurance-that is compulsory i believe-paying to my council....
but i dont have like other insurances...i think it is nothing to do with plumbing though cos my shower room is like..not the best from day one
but it looks like something is not right so i might have to see what council say first
i have been paying them silly money over the years-i would hope they would help me out but knowing them they will probably come with over charged estimates....
ps.do i need to pay for some other staff -?0 -
I do loads of insurance work. Hardpressed is correct - it will be your buildings insurance that covers it. This also includes 'third party liability': ie the fact that something caused (intentionally or by accident) by you that affects someone elses property. In this case your leak has caused damage to the downstairs property. Your insurers will pay. the only thing is that there will be an excess to pay which is typically around £100, but may be more. You will have to pay that. Make sure you get a plumber out to fix the leak. don't rely on the man from the council.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
