Benefits with babies!

Hi,
I am currently on long term incapacity benefit and will be so for the foreseeable future, I also get lower level disbility allowance, care component.

My husband and I are now thinking of trying for a baby but financial issues are a worry if I'll need childcare help. Does anyone know hoe being pregnant/ having a baby will affect these benefits?

Thanks
Charles J

  • The DLA is yours for however long the initial award was for. You say you have lower level Care component ? There are 3 levels - are you on the lowest?

You will be eligible for a childcare element within your child tax credit if you are on dla or incap. EVEN IF you are not working. I know this because I was in that situation.
