Barclaycard are doing a good deal on their cards at the moment some with a variable 14.9% APR and balance transfer offer for 14 months. As for getting a limit of at least £5000 straight off it depends on various factors, maybe you would be better applying for a personal loan that has no early redemption fee and charges interest daily and going to your own bank first as they are the most likely to say yes.

thanks smithja, a bank loan is not an option really because i am booking a holiday and i want the protection of the credit card..but thanks for the reply.0

for this purpose, maybe a cashback creditcard 0% interest is not really applicable for you as you intend to pay it within the interest free period. so i would go for any cashback card.QUIDCO £2827 paid out since October 2007:D0

MBNA (e.g. Virgin) are said to be generous with credit limits.0

Within a month? Then just get something interest free, although frankly an overdraft would probably be a better bet if you explained to the bank what you plan to do.0
