postgraduate funding from a research council - classed as income for tax credits?

is any funding I might recieve from a research council towards a postgraduate degree classed as income by the tax credits?

    I don't know about post grad findig per se, but for undergraduate funding, they count any grants that are for living costs specifically. Any that are deemed as helping cover educational costs aren't counted.

    Well, that is what they told me in my first year anyway. The HE grant was exempt, as was the parents learning allowance, but if I received any dependents grant then I had to declare it because it is intended to help me keep my dependants.
