Asking for interest free period on existing cards?

Is this sometimes successful? The interest free period is running out in Aug on my virgin card, and I only need another 6 months or so interest free to pay off my credit cards. I still have HSBC, MBNA and Egg credit cards from previous debt juggling - instead of applying for a new card, is there a good chance of any of these cc companies giving me another interest free period?

I asked HSBC to reduce their interest on my credit card and they did! I think they reduced it to 3.9% for 6 months! Yay! Bit of a result but the 6 months is up now, boo! I've just applied for a Barclays (Life Of Balance) CC at 6.3%! That will certainly help!
All you can do is ask - all they can do is say no!
Good luck

Halifax said no to me despite me having never missed a payment. I thought, considering they were so keen to hand me over £1,000 of credit despite never having had a card, they might have displayed some gesture of goodwill but it wasn't to be. It's alright though, I'm heading down in the next couple of days to "close" all of my accounts (including an ISA and a Savings Account) if they don't start to exhibit some kindness.0
