Can you get government aid with fuel costs?
as you all know fuel prices are just going to continue to rise.
luckily i have a reasonably econmical car, however i am still doing about 20k a year, with approx 15k of them just to go back and forth to work.
Is there any government aid i can apply for or is my employer meant to help with my fuel bill?
any advice would be great.

I don't think so. I can't see why the government would pay, they'd be paying loads of people if that happened. The only thing would be an income related benefit, but it wouldn't be any more specific.
Your employer isn't meant to help with fuel costs at all, unless it was agreed when you began the job. You took the job, therefore you agreed to transport yourself to it. They possibly could decide to help, but it's your responsibility.
I used to do the same kind of mileage as you, and I know how the costs mount up.
I don't know what job you do, but is there any chance of doing some homeworking? Or compressed hours, where you work your hours over less days?0
