I can't get Nokia 6230 to unlock, please help

I have a nokia 6230 that is on Tmobile, and I have followed instructions on sites to unlock it so I can use it for Orange 1000 free texts and 2for1 cinma offer. But, when I enter the codes given it doesnt do anything (dont even know if its supposed to???) Also, When I put an orange sim card in and restart the phone it says phone restricted enter code?

I have entered the code, but now the orange sim is working but doesnt seem to be picking up any signal what so ever???

was the mobile from a known source, could have been reported lost/stolen to the networks and blocked

Yes it was given to be by a colleague, it works fine when the original T-Mobile sim card is put into it? I don't understand?

Is the orange sim activated?

Try going into the Network settings and make sure it is on Automatic. Then take battery out and put back in and turn on.

Also with Orange Sim in the phone, try dialling into the phone from another phone. If you get a dead tone or a message saying calls cannot be made to this phone, orange have it blocked at their end.
