Help on delivery

Hi Guys,

I have just started selling on ebay and amazon, however I have fallen into a trap straight away.

On Amazon I am selling my old degree books (they are pretty heavy) I have just sold two, one for £8 and one for £20, however I didnt realise Amazon only charge £2.75 for P&P, so on the £8 book due to a £9 Royal Mail first class signed for delivery I have only broke even (After Amazon fees) I have made money on the £20 book but not as much as I would like.

I have read the thread on Couriers and have seen they can be as cheap as £6, but was wondering how people use these as I have a full time job at the min and would not be avaliable to wait for collection. Also do people normally just send them via normal postal delivery to keep costs down (Is there a risk with this as the end customer could say they never recieved the goods?)

Finally when they call it Amazon standard delivery what do they mean as "standard" can I send it 1st or 2nd class?

Thanks
Neil

You don't need recorded, it is only standard mail so that saves you 72p a go. If item fails to arrive all you need is a certificate of posting to reclaim your item costs, a claim can be done with or without recorded being used.

For more Amazon tips check out the main Amazon thread on here as the first few posts cover a lot of the basics. However, remember that before you confirm that you list the item the full amount you will receive after postage has been applied is shown, so always check what you will receive against the costs of sending the book before you agree to list.
