If Abbey have declined it on affordability they'll struggle to obtain it elsewhere. Maybe First National but I doubt anyone else will do it.

Update: after all that delay and Abbey actually carrying out the survey they have then gone and denied our buyers the mortgage on affordability grounds. They are now applying via someone else. But this just means more delays.

Oh well, no use crying over spilt milk.

It sounds like you are being spun a line to some extent.

Abbey will not normally instruct a survey until they have assessed the application and they have all the information on which to base a decision - so I don't think Abbey will have done the survey for them

I think your buyer may well have been denied, but I doubt they have had a survey done.

It sounds like they were using this line to try and buy some extra time off you to be honest.

I've submitted cases and they have been instructed straight away

I had read about the Abbey backlog but my house purchase is due to complete this Friday and Abbey turned the application and survey around in under 3 weeks. Perhaps I was just lucky by the sound of it?
  • Hi All

We are waiting on the mortgage valuation to be done on our flat that we are selling.

They seem to be quite slow.We were told that it was because they were changing addresses & that the rates had changed so this is why it hasnt been done yet.Would you believe this  ?

We are waiting on the valuation so the searches can be done.We sold the flat middle of July 2009.They are slowing us down.As far as I know our solicitors should be able to reach exchange stage soon if the mortgage valuation hurrys up.

How long did it take for your buyers to get there offer accepted?

It would be great to hear from you
