Why would an employer NOT offer it to all? It doesn't cost anything, does it? The employee sacrifices some of THEIR salary, no?

thats what i thought? it cant be a 'bonus' as the company dont actually give anything? maybe they just cant be bothered with the paperwork...?

Have they actually refused you childcare vouchers, and if so what was their excuse? Did they claim not to be signed up to the scheme at all?

If not, why not just "innocently" ask them for them, not letting on that you know about your colleague, and see what they say? Surely they'd have a hard time justifying turning you down since it doesn't cost them anything?

If they do say no to you, then you know for sure that something is dodgy, and can decide what to do about it.

    Hi all,

Thanks for your responses. So far they are saying that they are still waiting for a response from top management with a decision as to whether or not they will offer it. I have already explained to numerous managers that the scheme actually saves them money but I am getting the impression that it is more down to being lazy than anything else. What just seems ridiculous to me is that if they have set it up for one person, isn't that most of the legwork done? They really need to boost morale at the moment as many employees are getting upset with various things they are doing so this could be one positive thing that could encourage people to stay but they just don't seem interested.
Ah well, they will lose out long term as it looks like due to this and other unhelpful things they are doing, they will be losing 4 members of staff very soon. Might not sound like a lot but when you consider that it is an office of 10 thats quite a high percentage. It is a big company but this particular office is a small part of it.

    Thanks for your responses
