Sold an iPhone to a buyer in Italy.
Sent it via International signed for....
If they claim non reciept will Paypal do me with chargeback?
It was sent to an 'unconfirmed' address but I read somewhere that all addresses outside the US and UK are unconfirmed?
I think the Royal Mail here can eventually get you proof of delivery but it takes MONTHS and you can not confirm delivery via online or by phoning.
Have to say i am not that impressed by this method of delivery RM effectivly seem to totally loose track of an item once it reaches another country like France.

not exactly sure of all the ins and outs of
this but signed for is only tracked till it
leaves the UK.You would have been better
using Airsure confirmed delivery for this.
But either way if its lost you can put in a claim
wth Royal Mail using the ebay selling page as proof.
Have to say that Italy is a really hit and miss affair
re parcels arriving a lot of sellers are not posting there
any more .:j:j:j0 -
You can no longer claim for Mobile Phones sent outside of UK with RM.
Try Checking to see if you track it on http://www.poste.it/en/
Big problems with missing post in Italy at the moment aswell0 -

So what is the difference between ISF and Airsure? what advantage does Airsure have over Int signed for?0 -
Airsure is tracked rght to the delivery address
and while they dont get a signature
they do confirm delivery.Noticed too
that in dodgy countries like Italy it
always gets to its destination.
Also in the event of a claim paypal will
accept this as proof posative that its
arrived.
Could it be that this is with Customs ?
May be that its been held up there..
This type of thing I would have had UK only bidders
so it could be posted on special delivery.

Italy, AARRGGHH.
I recently stopped shipping to Italy altogether. In over 50% of sales to Italy I would get emails chasing items and they could take 3 to 4 weeks to arrive, if at all. Some discussion boards on eBay suggest its a common problem but Royal Mail deny there is an issue.
There shouldnt be a Customs issue as its in the EU but for some reason Airmail seems to just sit around somewhere despite being sent out of the UK by RM within 24 hours usually.0 -
Phones going outside the UK is really a very bad idea as per TK Peters post. No cover against loss and going to a country that seems to have more than its fair share of goods going astray.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!!Have to say i am not that impressed by this method of delivery RM effectivly seem to totally loose track of an item once it reaches another country like France.
That's because it's then in the hands of the local post office, RM does not have any postmen in France.
I'd empty your paypal account right now and get ready for the upcoming row..."Love you Dave Brooker! x"
"i sent a letter headded sales of god act 1979"0 -
Yeah I sold 6 phones to various parts of Europe, all International signed for and thought, (derr!) that I would be able to track the products to their safe destination as was implied by the man in the post office "oh yes sir, ring this number and they will confirm it has been signed for!" (NOT!!)
Up till now I have an excellent rating on Ebay 300+ 99.2% but have a feeling the phones were being snapped up too quickly and am thinking I am about to be introduced to Chargeback in a big way.
My Paypal account is empty anyway, but they have my solo card details and a DD with my bank, so i guess Paypal can take what they want from me?
Ho hum...what to do?....I sold the phones in good faith, and spent money on recorded deliveries but think I am about to become the victim...

Don't forget though that if you abandon your paypal account you will struggle to open another one and without a paypal account you will no longer be able to trade on ebay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
