Anyone, please? It's near Cadiz and Jerez.0
-
I have stayed close by (Chiclana) a couple of times, most recently earlier this month.
Nowhere near as built-up as other parts of Spain, beautiful beaches.
Plenty of choice re villa rentals, at very competitive prices. Many ex-pats seem to live there.
Plenty of options for days out (Cadiz is 30min, Gibraltar just over an hr).
What is it that you need to know?0 -
Many thanks for the reply. I am staying in a hotel in NSP and don't fancy sitting by the pool all day! I wondered how far it was to Seville and Cordoba? I will spend one day in Jerez but is there anything else I must see? Don't fancy Gib but will go to Cadiz. Is there a bus service from NSP to Jerez?
Thanks for the offer to help.

Hi Norman,
First time we went, we flew to Seville. Journey time was around an hour and a half in the car, if I remember correctly. Car hire is very cheap.
Have never been to Cordoba.
Definitely recommend at least a day in Cadiz, there are plenty of towers and old churches to visit (as well as the Cathedral), and alleys to walk through. Nice botanical park, overlooking the Atlantic.
Parking in Cadiz can be a complete nightmare. It is a one way road all of the way round, and is often a case of continually driving around, until you see an available place. Having said that, on my last visit I did notice that there is a car park by the Botanical Gardens, which charges around a cent per minute. Seemed quite reasonable to me, but I would guess that it is busy too.
There is a fairly large train station in Cadiz, and I think that you can get a train from not too far from NSP (perhaps San Fernando?).
Went to Gib last time, wouldn't recommend it.
Vejer is definitely worth a trip; it is around half an hour south of NSP, and is a maze of alleys and streets built into the hillside:

A little further South is Tarifa, with its ferries to Morocco as well as whale watching trips. Have always been tempted by the day-trips to Morocco, cant persuade the wife though. If you drive along the coast road past Tarifa, you will see North Africa on a good day.
Old Sancti Petri is worth a look. It is the old fishing vollage, mostly abandoned now. There are boat trips from OSP around the island, where Franco is supposed to have spent his summers.
Here is a website, that will hopefully give you some other ideas:

Hope this helps.0 -
