virgin mobile...can i go elsewhere and keep number?

ive had a virgin mobile on the direct debit set up for years ...theyve just put the prices up so id like to go to another provider

do any companys allow you to keep the old number?

    call them (Virgin) and ask for a PAC - then with most new deals (except a few cashback type things on-line) you can tell them the PAC (a number) which they will use to transfer your number.

    Its a Porting Authorisation Code

    Ring Virgin & they will give you a code this lasts for 30days...you ring the new mobile service provider your going to & quote the code...they then arrange trasfer of your mobile number usually within a few days

    They have changed how they do it slightly I have noticed when I requested a PAC yesterday. You phone them and ask for a PAC code then they tell you that they are entering it onto the system and that you will be sent a letter with the code within 5 working days. It used to be that they text you with the code within 72 hours.
