wanna know about using X-box as media center.

Hubby wants to turn our X-box into a media center so we can watch videos and play music stored on our PC over a network connection onto our living room TV, apparently this will involve modifying the BIOS chip in the xbox and installing Xbox Media Center software (XBMC), however I like to use Xbox live and we think doing this will get us banned from Xbox live as it will see the BIOS has been modified. Can anyone offer advice on upgrading it to be used as a media center and if there is a way of doing it so we can still use xbox live. Really appreciate any help on this.

i have a modified Xbox , i mostly use is for movie & music streaming from my server or online best thing i ever did.

to get XBMC on your xbox you will have to open the case & play around , u will need a chip about £15 from https://www.baldbouncer.col.uk ...& i reccomend a non solder solution if you arent great with electronics ..its easy to install with step by step guides.

then once up you will have to flash the bios , again verry easy ( this is to alloe you to access the newly installed chip & not boot directly into the Xbox menu.

then u need to install a app called slayers disc image ..which bsically does everything else for you. Reboot & away you go !!!

once your xbox has been chipped it will probably get banned on the live stuff but who cares ,,i play online with Xlink Kai ..check out the website http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/index.php there is normaly 1500 ppl online & its free .
