Tesco Mobile
I have a Sendo 550 mobile bought from Tesco and I want to upgrade to a better handset. I want to try and get a quad band PAYG phone and I want to keep my number. If I buy a phone and it's on a different network other than in Tesco, can I just swap the SIM card or will I have to re-enter all the details again on the new SIM card? Also, any suggestions for a decent handset and who provides the best PAYG tariff. I am a low user.

almost all handsets can be unlocked, Nokias for free and most others for about £5-10
once unlocked you can just pop your Tesco sim card in it and off you go

If you buy a phone on the Tesco or O2 networks you will not need to unlock, just pop your existing sim card in and carry on.
If you buy a phone on another network it will need unlocking before it will accept your sim card.
If you want to change tarrif onto another operator i.e. Orange, T-Mobile then you will need to phone Tesco for the release code for your number. You will then need to call your new operator and give them the information so they can transfer your number. this can take anything up to a week.
The Tesco tariff is pretty good though for low users.0 -
