Get mobile network from number
I have a contract which charges a LOT more for calls to other mobile networks than my own network. I'd like to be able to choose how to phone numbers on other networks, but first I have to be able to find out what network a particular number is on.
I found this:
http://mnnc.net/index.php
Which can tell you the ORIGINAL network that the number was allocated to, but if the user has changed network taking the number with them then it gives a "false" result.
Is there ANY way of RELIABLY finding out what network a particular number is on NOW?

No there isn't with number portability. The original proposals for portability also included a beep/tone to indicate to the caller if the number was on the same network. That part was dropped. I don't think much will happen as more networks are using their minutes as x-network.0

call the other person ask them, then hang up if it's not the same network. 100% foolproof0
