Selling gold jewellry

Hi, as you can see this is my first time!
My question is, i have a lot of gold jewellry that I no longer wear, I took this to a jewllers to see how much they would give me and he asked me what figure i was lookin g at. Very clever on his part as I may of said a figure that was so under the amount it was worth as I hve no clue. Included was a diamond cross neckalace and some (not very big) diamond earings.

Is anyone out there knows the value of second hand (mostly 9 carat) gold and diamonds.

Thanks

The short answer is 'it's worth whatever you can persuade someone to pay' :-)

Seriously, I would have a look on Ebay for 'completed listings' (it's a search option down on the left hand side) and see what similar pieces have been making. If you can find jewellery roughly equal to yours, either use that as a starting point for a direct sale, or use it to sell your stuff on Ebay.

Good luck, hope it makes a mint for you :-)

Diamonds I'm not to sure about. Scrap gold sells on ebay for anything between £4-£5.20 a gram or so. I've listed some recently and have been looking at the listings. Obviously if your's isn't scrap then you will get more than this.

I would list it but put the start price or a reserve on for whatever is the minimum you want.

Take it somewhere else for a proper valuation.
