Laptop Mice ... any good?

my son hates the touchpad on his new laptop (he's used to the 'nipple' thing on my one)

are those mini-mice you get for laptops any good, or are they just a gimmick?

any advice would be appreciated, I don't want him to waste his/my cash on something that will ultimately become a cute ornament

    I always use a mouse with my laptop. I've used both a mini mouse and a normal sized one without any problems.

    Does he need it to be smaller to carry around or is the laptop just used on a desk at home? If its just used at home, then a standard size mouse will be more comfortable to use, easier to find in-store and no doubt cheaper to buy.

    I'm using a mini mouse at the moment, my old standard one broke and this was only a quid, works fine and I find the smaller size more confortable

    I'd buy him one to try for £1! what kind is it? & where did you get it at that price?
  • Get a standard mouse for £0.15 at InkClub - there's a thread on here somewhere about it.

    Edit - here's the thread -> http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=84564

    I use THIS ONE with my main laptop and find it very comfortable. I personally wouldn't like to use a standard mouse on my laptop as I think it would be too big.

    I'm thinking of buying THIS ONE for my second laptop. My daughters use the touch pad on it . but I can't be doing with that and want to buy a mouse for when I take it on holiday :rolleyes:
