Problems with Binatone x350 satnav

Hi - please help! I bought this satnav last week and although local places all come up fine, anywhere further afield just isn't recognised! I've tried postcodes, cities etc and it seems that the whole of northern England is missing! Wales and the south of England is fine! Its so odd! What happens if I need to drive to Birmingham or somewhere? Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to wait until I've been up north for it to recognise there or, as I suspect have I got a faulty machine??

Any suggestions please (I've already emailed binatone but not hopeful of any response!

What maps does it come with ??
Looks like you have a southern england only map installed .
Though spec says UK .
Will recognise lands end or john o groats from anywhere .

My sister got given this model (or maybe it was the A350?) for Christmas by her partner, and the first time she used it was on Christmas Eve, to navigate to my house in Birmingham after picking up her new car from a dealer in Norwich (she actually lives in Cumbria). For some reason it failed to recognise the postcode so she had to put the address in manually, and then it directed her to Glossop, just east of Manchester and about 100 miles away from where she was supposed to be going!

I thought she must have done something really daft (besides not checking against a map, of course) but I couldn't get it to recognise my postcode either. My house was built in 1933 so it's hardly a new-build!

I rang binatone who got me to try a couple of things while I was on the phone and decided that it had certain parts of the country completely missing so not all the software was installed. They told me to return it to where I'd bought it which I did and they replaced it immediately. I've been using the new one for months now with no problem so I suggest you or your sister return it and exchange it for a working one!

if anyone having probs with this satnav or just cant get used to it then it is possible to load tomtom onto a sdcard and use the sd slot on the binatone, plus the maps are from 2007 on the binatone and i'm running the latest maps via sd card and tomtom, lol
