in Credit cards
Not wanting to pay the 70p charge for using a credit card at Ikea i went against my better judgement and got one of theirs.
After 5 weeks and a few spends, no bill had arrived, rang the helpline to discover that I had just 4 days to settle the outstanding amount, 'What happened to the bill?' 'Weve had a bit of trouble with the system this month'. I would point out that the girl at the call centre was both helpful and polite.
So if you dont' get your bill I would advise a quick phone call to check back with them.
Going off now to check the small print, hope I haven't been MACS'd

You have to pay 70p to use your credit card? They don't make that very clear. Is that at every store?I'm married now! Yippee!0

Yes it applies to all their stores in the UK from September 1st.
The link should take you to their FAQ on the topic:

Debit cards are exempt from the charge. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Charging for credit card transactions is becoming increasingly popular - you'll notice things such as council tax can be paid by credit card but with an additional fee.
Give it a few years and it wouldn't surprise me if every single transaction anywhere is subject to a fee decided by the individual company - including places such as supermarkets.0 -
I got an ikea card in march & had no problems; but I haven't had a statement for aug, sept or oct as yet, despite regularly using my card. Several phone calls & a letter have had no effect; direct debits have been taken for the minimum payment which I would never normally make & I am FURIOUS!!
Can they get away with this & who can I complain to? ( I am about to transfer my balance to my halifax 1 card which still has 3 months interest free left). Is there anything else I can do?
cheers.0 -
Cancel the card!
If memory serves the one you have from Ikea will have an APR around 28% I think.
New ones issued from September have a lower APR of 12.9%. I dont think the new rates were retrospectively applied to older cards but may be wrong in that. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
