  • Well I have been slated for some things I have said in the past on here. But a lot on this thread take the biscuit. Don't tarr all C H areas with the same brush F F S . If some of you did not grow up in C H areas I am sure your parents did. I wonder if you would be talking in the same way if the original post was about ethnic minorities...... No. How times have changed.
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

My post (which has since vanished somewhere) was basically saying the same as others have posted since.

I live in HA owned, we do have pride and actually compete against each other to have the nicest garden. We also have a lovely community where everyone looks out for everyone else.

I have also lived in a wholly owned estate where we had problems with people stealing the milk from our doorstep (these were owners too)

My parents own their own home and their neighbours are just the same as mine, lovely people who look out for each other.

So you can get good and bad in all areas, just like in life.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
  • I live in an ex-la flat at the moment and it's on the market (has been for a few months now) and it's a tricky one really! It's difficult to tell which ones are still tenants and which are owned just by looking - my next door neighbour keeps her garden absolutely gorgeous and she's a tenant, while the people the other end bought their flat and the outside of it looks like a dumping ground.
You should be able to ask the ea what the proportion of tenants to owners is - we have 3 out of the 8 in our block as private.
If you want to know about 'what the area's like' then go and visit it at different times, e.g. end of school time, friday evening etc. But don't be intimidated! Some viewers of our place said to the EA that they'd been put off as when they walked round on a Saturday evening, they were intimidated by a large gang of 'yoofs' hanging about with dogs (tbh, you get a group of kids and I've never ever had any of them say a thing! They're just kids with nothing else to do) and that someone was playing music to compete with Ministry of Sound! Pure lie, as we were in watching a quiet movie and didn't hear a thing! They obviously assumed it'd be rough, but people really do look out for each other.
Of course, one of our viewers liked the flat and came to look at the area in the morning - unfortunately the morning someone was being arrested in the street (but they're being booted out now!).
