Laptop battery

I have had my laptop a couple of years and suddenly the battery has stopped holding its charge. I have always kept it charged up and it says 100% but only lasts a short time.
How long should batteries last and is there anywhere to buy a cheap one - I was quoted about £115 which seems a lot of money.

Laptop batteries don't have a great shelf life.. most go after a year or so.
I was once advised that when using a laptop with the power plugged in, you should remove the battery pack to reserve its energy. When the battery pack is in, your laptop runs off the battery while the power source is constantly charging the battery. I've no idea if this is true or not, sounds possible.. it was someone from PC World that told me though.
You may pick a battery up online for a lil cheaper.. £115 seems a bit excessive... I wouldn't recommend getting a second hand one though.
If you've got a choice, as far as i know, Lithium Ion batteries are better (but dearer) than the NiCad and NiMH batteries.Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication - Leonardo Da Vinci0 -
Batteries are *consumables*
So yes, they need replacing eventually.0
