Re-installing Microsoft Office

I am having problems with Microsoft Office on my new laptop (Access in particular) so I am planning to re-install it. Just have a couple of questions?

1. Should I uninstall Office before re-installing
2. Will I lose any files/ settings (especially bothered about outlook)

Thanks
Filiss

If I remember correctly you can goto add/remove progs, choose uninstall office and it will bring a box up with options to add/remove components, repair or completely uninstall.

    I'd try repair 1st.

You're right T4i - there is a repair option. It's the one I would go for first.

I would make a backup of your files anyway - just to be sure. Incidentally, if you open one of the Office applications and click 'Help', there is a 'Detect and Repair' option. I assume this does the same as has been mentioned before but it may be useful.

No you won't lose any of your files or settings. Office files (including Outlook email folders and Office templates) are stored in C:\Documents and Settings\YourUsername\Application Data\, and your documents are stored in C:\Documents and Settings\YourUsername\My Documents\ (assuming the C: drive and you've saved files in the default location). The office programs are stored in C:\Program Files\ so uninstalling/reinstalling won't affect any documents you've created.

Reapir install replaces any damaged files and repairs the registry settings.
