THE Capital's residents have more disposable income than those in most of rest of the UK and are among the healthiest in Scotland, a new survey reveals today.
With spare cash of about £14,000 a year, residents have more money to spend on themselves than any other part of Scotland, and only lag behind the richest parts of London and South East England..>

Where do they get that figure from!? I don't know anyone who has "spare cash of £14k a year", I know a few people who don't even earn that much in a year (before tax, working full time).

Never heard such P*SH (outside a party political broadcast).
My wife and I have full time jobs, she has qualifications dripping out of her ears (I have "only" a humble degree), and we ain't got the 14 grand spare each year!
If that is an "average" figure, and I know there are loads of people in Edinburgh on the poverty line (it isn't all the new town and Princes Street you know), there must be lots of folk coining it in.
I suppose determined MSE-ers might get there eventually!

I think it means that all the residents of Edinburgh put together have £14,000 spare between them. It doesn't mean £14,000 each! With spare cash of about £14,000 a year, residents have more money to spend on themselves than any other part of Scotland

Having travelled into town the other day by bus and looking down from the upper deck at the litter and dirt about the city I was ashamed.
Round about Waverley all the bins were full and rubbish was dumped on the ground around it for the lack of anywhere else to put it.
Come on Edinburgh town council, we pay enough in rates for heavens sake, get the city cleaned up for all these visitors
Oh and if you find my £14,000 you can even use that...0
