is the £300 special offer pc world pc any good?

i've pretty much summed up the thread question in the title, basically pc world are selling a desktop pc for £300 online, but is it worth the money or can better be had elsewhere?

TBH that is a pretty good spec for the price. As long as you are not planning on playing games then it should do.
One bit of advice if you get it is get an extra 1Gb of RAM to put in it (not from PC World though)

Maybe a daft question but does it deffo come with the monitor, I may of missed that.

Yes it does, an Advent 17". You need to look at the detailed spec to find this, I missed it first time.

That won't run Vista particularly well at all........1GB of RAM and a 1.6Ghz cpu together with shared graphics memory.

You'll need to spend £100 to get performance upto a reasonable speed.

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.

I have to disagree, 1gb of ram is fine so is 1.6cpu as Premium has to have the lowest spec of 512mb RAM and 800mhz cpu.

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    That's just Microsoft PR crap!

I'd pay to watch a pc @ 800mhz with 512mb ram run Vista!

    Dell Vostro 200ST
    Better CPU
    Twice the memory
    Twice the Hard Drive
    19" LCD Monitor
Choice of Vista Business or XP Pro
    After 5% Quidco £312

Buy it and not the Compaq, you won't regret spending the extra few £

Saw this one posted on one of the other Boards here. Seems to have a better spec but the downside is a 3 month warranty. It comes without a monitor but they also have a 19" Phillips TFT on the site for £99.99 so the overall price is better.

I would not buy the Compaq. Have a dell with a 1.6G cpu in it xp sp1will run well, sp2 is OK and Vista - I would not even try.

I do like Jaxer's recomendation. Browntoa also recommended it yesterday too on another post. It's got more of everything, except a years warranty, screen, and vista cd
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)
